Fundraising
We would like to encourage all parents to try and raise funds for the conference and as a long term strategy. Please see below the inspiring example of Annette Musso, one of our parents in the 2009 MN Conference. Annette successfully raised nearly $6000 with her fundraising event. Congratulations, Annette! and thank you for sharing with us MATTEO AND FRIENDS' successful fundraising strategy.
Please find below the tips and templates Annette used in her campaign. Feel free to modify them to your own fundraising purposes. We wish you every good fortune in your fundraising efforts.
1. CREATE A MASTER LIST
• get a committee of friends and relatives (Anette had 10 people)
• call the IRS and get a tax-id number. You can get a “1-time” special event number where people can give you money for a specific cause, especially medical/funeral, etc…
• IRS number for “specialty tax department” 1-800-829-4933
• Can ask to speak with the “non-profit tax law department” to get a full understanding of how this works. Just tell them your goal and why you need this money.
• decide on which type of event you want to have to raise funds (carwash, evening of entertainment, dinner, DJ, silent auction, raffles, BUNCO/POKER night, etc…)
• get a date and location for event
• write mission statement for the event and sent to everyone you know
• create an evite/”save the date” flier
• start gathering silent auction/raffle items from local businesses
• advertise in as many places as possible to get people to attend (church bulletins, local papers, large newspapers, schools, businesses where friends work, etc…)
• We’ve put up a website (www.bridgetohealing.org) and I’m working on adding pictures/slideshow to it and for the event itself. Right after the slideshow, we’ll segue into the live auction for the largest donations that we’ve gathered.
1. a 20 minute ride in an L-39 jet (like Top Gun)
2. dinner for 8 at my friend’s beautiful house on the water…full service and incredible meal being prepared by my girlfriends. Great idea!
3. 1 week in Mexico
